Swiss software for vZEV

Share solar power. Settle it fairly.

kWise manages your virtual self-consumption community (vZEV) end to end: import metering data, distribute PV power in 15-minute intervals, send invoices with Swiss QR payment parts and keep audit-proof accounts – open source and built for Swiss regulation.

kWise overview with consumption data and PV distribution
How it works

From meter reading to finished invoice in four steps

From your grid operator's smart meter export to the booked payment: kWise covers the entire workflow of running a vZEV.

Import metering data

Read in your grid operator's load profile data via drag & drop or automatically by email import – in the official ValidatedMeteredData XML format.

Distribute solar power

kWise allocates PV production to the participants in 15-minute intervals: self-consumption, surplus and grid supply at a glance.

Send invoices

Invoice runs at any interval you choose – with Swiss QR-bill, PDF/A compliant, sent directly by email.

Keep the books

Payments, costs and budget under control – all the way to the annual closing with balance sheet and income statement.

Core features

Everything a vZEV needs – in one place

From metering data delivery to the annual closing: kWise covers the complete workflow of vZEV management.

Importing energy data via drag and drop

Energy data import

Load profile data via drag & drop or email import – in the ValidatedMeteredData format (1.5/1.6), at 15-minute resolution.

Automatic PV power distribution to consumers

PV power distribution

Automatic allocation of PV production to all consumers: self-consumption, surplus and residual grid supply at a glance.

Interactive consumption analysis with time filter

Consumption analysis

Analyse consumption, PV production and grid supply interactively – with time filtering and clear visualisations.

Invoicing including Swiss QR-bill

Invoicing

Invoice runs at freely definable intervals – including Swiss QR-bill (PDF/A) and dispatch by email.

Audit-proof accounting and cost allocation

Accounting & cost allocation

Audit-proof double-entry bookkeeping with a gapless numbered journal, budgeting and annual closing – also suitable for generation cooperatives and condominium owners' associations.

Participant portal for vZEV members

Participant portal

Login for vZEV participants with access to consumption data, invoices and documents – multilingual, with dark mode.

Operating costs & payments on account

Operating cost statements per financial year and payment-on-account plans generated straight from the budget.

Document management

Upload statements and receipts, publish them selectively to participants and deliver them by email.

Tariff management

Peak and off-peak tariffs, metering fees and PV discounts for day and night – flexible per period.

Swiss legal framework

What is a virtual self-consumption community?

Since 1 January 2025 the Swiss Energy Ordinance allows virtual self-consumption communities (vZEV): several properties – or the apartments of a single building – share one photovoltaic system at the same grid connection point, without new cabling, purely via 15-minute smart meter data.

  • Single grid connection point (< 1 kV, no junction-sleeve network)
  • PV production of at least 10 % of the total connected load
  • 15-minute metering by smart meters
  • Compliant, audit-proof billing – kWise takes care of that
